Zero to hero: superfast brand building

The success of Virgin Mobile, from a kitchen-table start-up to a £1 billion business with over 5 million customers in just under 5 years, inexorably led to the creation of the much broader Virgin Media business. Having designed the Virgin Mobile brand and identity, Start was tasked with the creation of the Virgin Media brand and experience.

This was to become one of the UK’s largest rebranding programmes; redefining the combined entities of Virgin Mobile, NTL and Telewest into Virgin Media. Launched under the banner of infinite entertainment, it bought a refreshing customer-first approach to a cluttered marketplace, not just in the UK but across the EU and into the Middle East and Asia.
